FLS believes that access to on-going counseling and support is vital to a birthparent’s ability to move through the grieving process and build a healthy relationship with the adoptive family after an adoption placement. Face-to-face counseling or telephone counseling is available for any birthparent who placed a child through our agency at any point following an adoption. To schedule an individual counseling appointment, contact the agency directly by phone or email. We host an FLS Birth Mother Gathering annually for ladies to come together and enjoy a day together to share experiences and move a little further along the journey of healing. Details will be posted to the events page.
We offer a Monthly Birth Mother Support Group at our agency on the 2nd Monday evening of every month at 6:30 p.m. This is an open support group that is open to any birth mother who voluntarily placed a child in an adoption placement through an agency adoption or private adoption. The Birth Mother Support Group has been established to create a birth mother community and give women an opportunity to connect with one another (at any point along the adoption journey). The group is intended for ladies to share their experiences, as birth moms, in an effort to give and receive peer support. RSVP is required to email@example.com so we can plan food accordingly and give specific information about where to enter the building.
Because many of the birthparents we have worked with do not live within a close geographical distance to the agency, there is a confidential, internet-based, virtual support group for FLS birthparents. If you would like to be invited to join the FLS Birthmothers Virtual Support Group, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can connect you to join the conversation between birthparents from various stages of the post-adoption journey.
