Jordan & Helene

We are Jordan and Helene and want to first say THANK YOU for taking the time to get to know us a little bit! We want you to know a couple of things from the beginning: 1) we already love you and 2) are praying for you during this journey. We know considering multiple options is not easy and we support you and pray that you experience God’s incredible peace on this journey.

You are unique and special, and God has an incredible plan for your life. We firmly believe that He takes all situations and turns them into good. Life can be so challenging, but we believe that He is so much bigger than our challenges and He desires us to seek Him amid our difficulties and not only will our focus change, but He will strengthen us and restore us (1 Peter 5:10). He gives us beauty in place of our ashes, joy instead of sadness and if it is His will, we want to share with you some of that beauty and joy on this journey of life.

Now that our paths have crossed, even if just for a little bit, here is the big picture of who we are:

We love kids and have lots of them around us!  We have a vibrant and beautiful little girl (who you will learn more about later) and have 15 nieces and nephews (and we are close with all of them!). Helene works with kids and Jordan could be argued as the most fun parent and uncle, so we are blessed to be surrounded by, learn from, and help children on a daily basis!

We are both believers in Jesus and have a passion for our family to be centered around Him. As we continue on this faith journey together, our prayer is from Ephesians 3:16-18 that God will grant us strength with the power through his Spirit so that Christ may dwell in our hearts and we will be rooted and grounded in love. Our prayer is also to comprehend the vastness of the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, and that we will be filled with the fullness of God. We say all of that not in a religious or super spiritual way, but have come to realize that our relationships with Jesus are number one and He is the Rock we stand on in this crazy and challenging journey that is called life!

About Us:

Jordan is pretty hilarious, loud, thoughtful, driven, and smart! Helene is detail-oriented, caring, motivated, and hospitable! Together – we are typically considered opposites in many ways, but our foundation is a love for Jesus, people, and serving both to the best of our abilities. We generally have a whole lot of fun and love doing life together!

We met at church camp in summer of 2007 at the ripe age of youngsters (Jordan had just graduated college and Helene was entering her senior year of college) and dated a couple of years before getting married in fall of 2009. We love learning and decided to pursue multiple additional degrees after getting married. We also love exploring new places and have made it a goal to experience a new place every year since we said “I do,” while also prioritizing traveling to favorite places, like Helene’s nana’s house in New York state, every year for Thanksgiving, and Boston, where one of Helene’s aunt’s lives.

We both have individually felt God’s calling on our lives to adopt – Helene since she was 11 years old, Jordan, since he was a teenager. After we met, adoption was a regular discussion point in our dreams for a future family. In 2018, we opened our home to care for Helene’s newborn niece and nephews, when her sister was hospitalized suddenly due to massive brain hemorrhage. We loved and cared for these kiddos for months after Helene’s sister (who miraculously survived!) went through intensive recovery and needed consistent and constant childcare upon her return home. We then opened our home to foster care in 2019, where we loved on some precious and beautiful children for 3 years, becoming full legal permanent guardians for one of our sweet children – Miracle Jane – who we opened our home and hearts to when she was 3 weeks old. She keeps us laughing, running, and relishing sweet moments as we experience life through her eyes. We believe God was preparing our hearts and lives for adoption through some of these unique experiences and are so thankful to Him for allowing us to care for vulnerable children in these ways.
