Birth Mother Support Group – November 13, 2017
We’ve re-launched the Birth Mother Support Group to give local women an opportunity to connect with one another (at any point along the adoption journey) and share their experiences as birth moms in an effort to give and receive peer support. This group is scheduled from 6 – 7:30 p.m. and there will be additional groups on the 2nd Monday of January & March of 2018. This will be an informal gathering and pizza will be provided. We do ask that you RSVP to email@example.com

Adoption Training Weekend – March 9-10, 2018
This is a mandatory, two-day training for all approved applicants to the FLS Domestic Adoption Program. The training is held on a Friday-Saturday and includes presentations from staff and guest speakers on topics such as adoption communication, attachment in adoption, interviewing with potential birth parents, transracial adoption, grief and loss, identity issues in adoption, preparing the adoption profile, talking to your child about adoption, etc. In addition, the weekend features panel discussions of adult adoptees, adoptive parents, and birth mothers. Space is limited and couples are invited in the order in which their applications are approved.
Empowered To Connect Conference – April 13-14, 2018
Empowered to Connect is designed to equip you to bring hope & healing to foster and adopted children. Family Life Services Adoption Agency is hosting the live simulcast of the Empowered To Connect Conference at the Liberty Mountain Conference Center (Lynchburg, VA) which will be FREE for all attendees because of a grant provided by the Greater Lynchburg Community Trust. The conference is Friday, April 13th & Saturday, April 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. For more detailed information about the conference speakers & schedule, visit this link.
Developed by the late Dr. Karyn Purvis & Dr. David Cross (TCU Institute of Child Development), this conference is ideal for adoptive and foster parents, extended family members, childcare providers, those considering adoption or foster care and those who are serving and supporting others, including social workers, agency professionals, church staff and ministry leaders, counselors, therapists and all others involved in adoption and foster care ministries or services.
