Fees

FLS makes every effort to keep adoption fees reasonable for adoptive families.  We are financially supported by the Liberty Godparent Foundation and generous individual donors, which enables us to keep adoption fees at the lower end of the spectrum.  The fees paid by adoptive parents generally do not cover our actual expenses for an adoption, but are subsidized by our financial supporters.

FLS Domestic Infant Adoption Program Fees

$23,000 Infant Adoption Placement Fee (includes up to $2,000 of medical expenses for the birth mother and up to $2,000 in legal and/or foster care expenses) – The balance of this fee remaining, after subtracting Waiting Family Fees, is not due until a child is legally placed in your home in an adoptive placement.

Waiting Family Fee – FLS will work with each couple for a duration of 3 years toward trying to make an adoption placement.  To join our program, you pay a waiting family fee of $2,000 which credits toward the adoption placement fee and that initial waiting family fee covers the first year of being in our program.  You are then billed $500 for each of the next two consecutive years if a placement hasn’t taken place during each of those years and the total paid in waiting family fees still credits toward the adoption fee.  The waiting family fee is non-refundable so, if you get a placement from another agency or discontinue the process, that fee is not returned to you as it covers our services in working with your family, presenting your album, counseling potential birth parents, counseling the prospective adoptive family, etc.

The only additional fees to those in our Domestic Infant Adoption Program are as follows:

1)    Application fee of $200
2)    Adoption Training Weekend fee of $350/couple
3)    Any medical, pregnancy-related expenses for the birth mother of the child exceeding
$2,000 (FLS will pay up to $2,000 of medical costs if no insurance is available)
4)    Any legal or foster care costs exceeding $2,000 (FLS will cover any amount under this)
5)    The completion of a home study and post-placement visits (paid to FLS or a licensed agency of
your choice), finalization documents prepared by FLS, and finalization documents
prepared by a VA attorney of your choice.

There are numerous adoption grants available to prospective adoptive families – three that we recommend researching are AbbaFund.org, ShowHope.org, and Jerryskids.us
